The future of work will no longer consist of performing a monotonous activity over a long period of time. For this reason I wanted to study at a university that doesn’t just go with the future, but that also offers to learn to shape the future.
3 questions, 3 answers to the students of XU, this time with Niklas, student of Digital Business. With the Hashtag #xustudentlife, our students will also be giving insights into their student lives in our Instagram story in the coming months. In the next two weeks, it will be Niklas, Jonas, Niclas and Kai.
Why did you choose XU?
In my school years, learning often meant only theory and memorizing it for a while. So I barely felt prepared for the future. While the world is constantly changing, many schools of today still remain in the past and communicate old knowledge with outdated methods. The digital transformation not only brings new technologies as well as smaller and faster computers, it will also shape and influence our social life. Especially the future labour market will be dominated by disruptive technologies and innovations. The future of work will no longer consist of performing a monotonous activity over a long period of time. For this reason I wanted to study at a university that doesn’t just go with the future, but that also offers to learn to shape the future.
Why did you choose your course of studies?
I have been interested in digitization for a while now, it was pretty easy for me to decide for the study course Digital Business. I can combine the topics of digitization, globalization and management with the classical business studies and follow my own path to the future. For me it is also particularly important, that you gain the necessary skills for building your own company and to be prepared to work in future jobs. The decision-making diversity of the study program was crucial. After all, the companies of the future must be adaptable to completely new challenges (such as climate change).
What was important to you when choosing your place to study?
The independent philosophy and mentality of the potential university was particularly important to me when choosing the XU. Knowledge must not simply be taught bluntly, but must above all be passionately transmitted and taught. The university had to be future-oriented and recognize the challenges of the present and adapt the study programs and contents accordingly. This also includes sustainability and good environmental awareness.
