3 questions, 3 answers to the students of XU, this time with Jonas, student of Coding and Software Engineering. With the Hashtag #xustudentlife, our students will also be giving insights into their student lives in our Instagram story in the coming months. In the next two weeks, it will be Jonas, Niklas, Niclas and Kai.

Why did you choose XU?

My student career began at the “Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus” (BTU), where I studied electrical engineering. Even then, I was interested in the subject of “programming”. On the one hand, it aroused my interest to write codes and programs myself. It was fun for me to develop “projects” in the team and to find solutions for problems. Furthermore, I am convinced that “Coding and Software Engineering” is becoming more and more relevant, because the social change and trend is developing more and more in the direction of digitization.

The reason, however, why I chose coding and software engineering at XU University, was the way of learning. XU focuses its attention on practical learning, talking and working together, discussing problems instead of just listening and taking notes. I liked that, you’re not just a number in the system.

Why did you choose your course of studies?

I decided to study Coding and Software Engineering because I find the topic really interesting, but also because the industry has expanded as a result of geographical change. Nowadays, coding and software engineering is popular in all areas. Whether it’s in the classic areas such as IT or in the market economy and automotive industry, it’s hard to imagine life without software in it, and a future-oriented course of study with a broad spectrum was important to me.

What was important to you when choosing your place to study?

It was particularly important to me that the university was future-oriented when I was choosing my study place. At XU I got the feeling that I could develop new learning concepts and grow with my tasks. I also liked the concept of learning and working together rather than just writing down theory. Personal questions can be asked and are answered comprehensively at XU. I like that, as well as the interest remains constantly present, by the fact that different topics are treated and represented by practical examples.
