The flats near the campus are up to 29sqm in size, have a private bathroom and usually a balcony or terrace. Particular importance was attached to a bright and complete equipment. Electricity, service charges and internet are included.

- 20-30 minutes to Berlin-Mitte
- 10-20 minutes to the city centre of Potsdam

Depending on availability, you can also rent your own apartment in the Potsdam-Babelsberg apartments close to the campus. The best thing about it: in the morning it is not far to class and in the evening you are almost as fast in Berlin as in the city center of Potsdam.

In addition, it is one of the few English taught Universities in Germany.

I did not want a course that was mainly theoretical. XU emphasizes practice along with theory to better understand. This a an important part as a preparation for the working life in the future. The small size of the classes, where lecturers knows everyone and is able to closely advise every individual. Since the University is focusing on digitalization, the courses become modernized and the University is always open to changes.

It was important for me to study in a creative place, where doors are open for me. I would like to learn something new and be able to keep up with it in the digital age now and later. I also think it’s good at the XU, that everyone is part of a team that can shape and influence today’s time and the student life. Every single person is approached and you are not just a student in a large lecture hall.

For me, the direction of my degree course had been clear for some time. I had looked at numerous colleges, but none could really convince me. Although they all offered computer science, I usually felt like the entire substance is obsolete after leaving the college due to lack of practical application or outdated content. That was not the case with the XU. It offered me the chance to understand the digitized world without losing track while studying, due to the rapid development process. The possibility of a semester abroad and teaching in English was also very appealing to me.

Mainly I chose the XU because of the future relevancy that the university brings. As the digitalization is taking over the industries and basically our lifes, this topic gets more important day by day. The potential is rapidly growing! I enjoy the aspect that the learning is happening in smaller groups, enabling discussions and other more direct and personal interactions. The relationship between the students and teachers is closer. What also impresses me is the amount of guest lectures. Managers and start-up creators come to the uni to share their experience. On one side we get to know the thinking process of different successful people. On the other side we make contacts that can be crucial in business life.

When choosing a place to study, the level of knowledge taught is particularly important to me. A course of study must be challenging and, from my perspective, as broad as possible. Since I had already gained a lot of knowledge in the economic field during my previous university career, it was important for me to choose a degree course that focused on the area of computer science. Furthermore, as the founder of a tech start-up, the area of computer science is very important to me and therefore I believe that this course of study is a good choice for me.

Especially important to me are small learning groups, a future-oriented study program and seminars that do not only consist of dry theory and listening. In the beginning I had to consider that at many universities I would only learn what I already know because I program in my free time. Or that the course of studies is exactly what I did not want. So I was very much considering whether studying was really the right thing to do for me. XU’s courses of study then hit exactly what I expected from my studies, small groups, knowledge for the future, initiative and a mixture of topics that inspire me.

It was particularly important to me that the university, in terms of its structure and its own systems, also corresponds to what the students learn in it. The environment is in my eyes very important for the fun and success of the students. That’s exactly what happens at the XU: The university is practically a start-up, since most of the students prefer to start their own business here, which of course is great, this environment is perfect. What you also need to build your own business are connections. The primary thing here are the students: Here, everyone is in the mood to create something new. That will certainly bring benefits in the future.

I think that XU is one of the few universities for economics with a sustainable concept. For years, state universities and other private universities have had little or no relevance to digital and modern topics. The XU was the first university where I had the feeling that these topics were taken to heart and that one really wanted to offer a high-quality study.
When I started, I was especially pleased that my first impression was not misleading and that it was even better than I had imagined.
